As the very rare survivors, we see it in our duty to explain that it can result in unimaginable suffering and death. The exact number of children affected by noma is difficult to determine due to a lack of data and under-reporting, but the urgency of the situation cannot be overstated.

We do it by raising awareness about the disease and the long-term challenges faced by survivors, supporting people affected and their communities beyond the acute phase of the disease and encouraging organizations and researchers to adopt a holistic approach.

We founded Elysium to share our experience and help people realise that even if the acute phase of noma lasts a very short time, the consequences of it are a lifelong journey for survivors like us. During the onset of the disease, 90% of the people affected die but for the 10% who survive, the aftermath is a burden.
At Elysium, we are passionate about our cause and dedicated to making a difference in the world, but we cannot do it alone. Your support is critical in helping us achieve our goals and build a better future for those impacted by noma.
